Hiya

New challenge over at Mixed Media World:

From Scrap To Masterpiece

I have seen these altered brushes for ages and have been desperate to try one, and this seemed perfect for this challenge. I have plenty of decorator's brushes that I'm too lazy to clean after painting that seem to lay abandoned and harden up over time. They usually end up in the bin, but what a perfect way to recycle them!

I painted it with black gesso to cover up the paint splotches, but left a few bristles so it adds some highlights.

Lots of Prima embellies from Finnabar, and some Say it in Crystals gems.

Splatters!! Oh yes, the splatter effect in full force of this piece!! I used the Mini Art Stones mixed in with the black gesso to create texture going up the side and down the front of the brush.

I used complimentary colours, Fresh Orange and Light Patina from Finnabair's new Art Alchemy range.

The very small speckles is embossing powder sprinkled on when the gesso was still wet and then dried.

And a fave word... what is a project without an inspiring word of wisdom :)

Hope you will join us for this challenge! Perfect for all levels and who doesn't have something that needs altering/saving/decorating haha!

Love and hugs

'Lady' - Layout for Prima Challenge

Hiya!!

Having a go at the Prima BAP challenge this month! I usually go for their PPP or combine the two, but wanted a little more freedom with colour this time, so went with just the layout. Isn't it awesome you get the choice?!!

So this is my second attempt, the first one didn't work out, but we shan't dwell on that, except to say I could not get three photos to work as per the sketch, so in order to still join in with the spirit of things I went for a portrait photo and continued with a line of flowers and embellishments going down it.

A Prima resin, (Railings) covered with Art Basics Clear Gesso and then sprayed with Color Blooms Vintage Coal and Antique Gold. Then some Art Alchemy Paint in Steampunk Copper.

Just a snapshot of all the bits coming together around the photo. I tried to create depth, to reflect the mysterious side of the photo and some sparkle, a little magic!

Some new Finn Gears hidden like little jewels.

I used an old vine flower by Prima. But sprayed with Color Bloom Spray in Boysenberry, and adorned with a mixture of 3D Matte Gel, Art Alchemy Paint in Steampunk Copper, Bronze Micro Beads and Gold Rush Art Glass

Finn's new metal Butterfly embellishment.

I used all sorts of new goodies as well as some old, Finnabair's new Rusting Paste for example. This has to be the easiest way to create a rust effect, and I used this on some circle shaped chipbaord pieces.

More hidden treasure, need more of these 'Art' knobs, I love trying to get this word into a layout.

Oh and the papers... Salvage District collection - LOVE!!

I'd like to enter this in the Prima Build a Page for the month of June! :)

Love and hugs,
Georgie

Heart of Glass - Relics and Artifacts Challenge

Hiya!

Today's post is quick but a little picture heavy. I wanted to enter the challenge over at Relics and Artifacts (FB page), Heart of Glass!

This is my take on the challenge - I used lots of Mega Flakes from Indigo Blu (these flakes are Chocolate Box and Chariot of Fire) paints from ColorArte Silks and Finnabar's Art Alchemy range, an IOD cherub from their new moulds. The glass heart, is a large irregular shape Swarovski crystal in Golden Shadow, which fitted snuggly in the opening in the heart making a Heart of Glass at the centre of the Heart :) With the cherub watching over to make sure it never breaks, bound in chains... in my head there is more of a story but I shan't ramble on about it!!

But of course, I couldn't enter without using one of the gorgeous Relics and Artifacts resin hearts - Flaming Hearts Ex Voto II
These were my first love when Sandra introduced her range to the market (and they'll never grow old with me!), but her gorgeous collection increases and have you seen those shells...? Drool worthy ;)

Anyway, I'm going to zip it now and move on to the close ups...

Thanks for joining me today!
Big hugs
Gee

Life is Beautiful Layout 7 Dots Challenge

Hi Fabulous Peeps!!

I thought I'd have a go at entering the 7 Dots Studio challenge. I love doing layouts, especially with a heavy mixed media feel.

I used papers from the Lost and Found and Cold Country collection. Currently I'm converting my garden from a building site into a 'sanctuary' so I have no nice photos of my garden, yet, but it is work in progress. But every free moment we have we make some family time to get out there and do a little. So hopefully we will get there soon, however, it fun channeling some of that energy into this layout!

Some peeping Scrapiniec pieces. I love this brand too!!

Lost and Found Elements from 7 Dots. These sheets are amazing and such a genius idea and great value to add extra interest.

Of course, I just gotta add some Prima flowers!!

Finnabair's new butterfly embellishments...

...and some of the melange.

I really like how they magnify what is beneath them!

Finally, just a bit of a close up on the main focal area of the page.

Do check out this month's challenge at 7 Dots Studio, 'Gardening'. Looks like fun and some amazing makes form the DT!
