Frilly and Funkie - Stencil Mania

Frilly and Funkie's challenge this week, hosted by the lovely Sue, is Stencil Mania!

'Stencils are such a must have in your craft stash, so lets see them take centre stage for this challenge. The more stencils you use the better! Have fun!'

Now I have to admit when it comes to my shabbier projects I don't reach for my stencils, and when I really thought about the design, I actually got a little nervous - what on earth was I going to do?!

So... thinking about the design, instead of going for lots of stencils, my mind kept racing to the 'centre stage' and thought how about using just the one and letting just be. No covering up too much, just to let it be there, in it's own right, as a feature...

So what do you think, does this pass? :)

I loved making this card, and the initial design process. I felt really tested, and pushed myself to come up with something that still fits within the shabby chic style as well as making the stencil centre stage.

Close up of the stencilling:

I used white texture paste with the Tim Holtz stencil - Lattice Work, touched lightly over the top with gold.

These gorgeous flowers, stocked by Linda at The Funkie Junkie Boutique, are a serious favourite of mine right now. They take paints and inks so beautifully. I used Tattered Rose and Picket Fence Distress Spray and Raspberry Lemonade Magicals from Lindy's Under The Boardwalk set.

The glossy marbling on the button was done with layers of Picket Fence Distress Stain and Glossy Accents.

The one thing I layered on the stencil was the wooden fence by Kaisercraft, which took just a light dappled coating of Picket Fence Distress Paint.

The sentiment, though luck more than anything, ended looking like a little street sign on the fence. I used the Hashtag stamps by Tim Holtz and a die from his thinlits Labels set.

Lots of yummy Maja Design papers were used with some hints of Raspberry Lemonade Magicals for shading, along with some lace by Venise Lace.

The rose trim between the stencil is from Maja Designs 12 x 12 papers Autumn Basics, it's that pretty patterned little extra bit, that we don't like to see go to waste ;)

I finished up with adding some ivory pearls.

That's it for today my lovelies, and for a list of all the goodies I used please see the icons below.
Happy Wednesday,
Georgie xx
