Frilly and Funkie - Raise It Up Challenge

Hi there!!

Time for our next challenge at Frilly and Funkie. as always the lovely Linda of the Funkie Junie Boutique is offering up a gift voucher This week our gorgeous hostess is Pamellia and she has chosen the theme:

RAISE IT UP

"I want to see lots of layers, lots of panels and/or lots of elements on your shabby chic or vintage project, BUT they must be raised up! Whether you choose to use pop dots, foam squares, silicone glue or and means of support make sure they stand proud.

Here, I created a vintage, word card:

To 'raise it up' I stared off with two layers of mount board glued together to really get it of the page, but this also allowed a good base to layer other bits under the main piece.

Actually using the elements themselves as the base of support works too, here I used a key from Kaisercraft and a metal embellishment to hold the butterfly. In fact, it's actually raised up again on the string running underneath it.

Other metals were used to add interest, layered amongst the 'gaps' in the support.

I used some Maja Design papers, gesso and Distress Spray to create the old paint splattered look. I find it amazing how the spray on the metal butterfly holds it droplet shape instead of bleeding into a pool.

Yummy, yummy crochet lace (I love adding this stuff into my projects at the moment) was used to add an extra layer and some texture.

---
Okay now for a quick pic of the build, please bear in mind this was taken by my three year old son, who has completely mastered the skill of our point and shoot camera! Just not quite the art of photography, but we're letting him running around with the camera, collecting his photos, so we have memories of the world seen through his eyes at this amazing age :)

He stands at the window staring at the guys for hours, giving me a play by play report lol!!

Hope you are having a great week so far and I will catch up very soon.
Gee xx

  8. Fabulous tag. Love the cool blue colour palette and how you pulled the eye right to the centre with that big key and the lovely butterfly. That is terrific that your little guy is taking photos and watching the contractors will be keeping him busy for some time. I agree with Buttons though and you better hide the toy construction tools.
    Hugs!

  10. This is so beautiful Gee, the colours are so soothing, the layers look fabulous and your embellies are just perfect. Loving the little guy's photo, quite the budding photographer. I did smile at your comment about him giving you a blow by blow, I got the same last year when we had our renovations - not from a child though - from the other half who saw himself as the Project Manager!
