Free - Art Piece

Hiya,

A huge warm welcome to my newest followers, thank you so much for joining me on my crafty journey and I will pop across and see you soon :)

Today I'm sharing a very quick (I say that and it never is) post, I'm on the mend - YAY, but now playing catch up with projects, so most of my posts will be short for the next week or so.

This piece is for the Mixed Media Place Blog Challenge No. 5 Black + All The Colours Of The Rainbow.

... and my inspirational piece for A Sprinkle of Imagination blog challenge kick off - that's right.. it starts today!! Be sure to link up your makes :)

She started life as this.. I really wanted to depict ' human form' in some way, and saw this as inspiration in a google search (she was an arty style free screen saver). So I did a very rough transfer with Art Basics Soft Matte Gel...

The started to add the lines and some shadowing...

Then I painted her tattoo and applied colours in quite a free manner to her arms and hip. I used Silks and Twinkling H2Os for this. A good helping of Art Basics Black Gesso was used for the whole piece as I decided after she was coloured I wanted a textured background but only had the Art Basics Texture Paste in White - sigh - must get more colours!!

Whilst painting her a story formed, she had life and soul. I imagined her as a spirit who was weighed down by her wings, afraid to be free. Yet that is what she dreamt of, hence the rest of the picture coming to life with 'free' in amongst the black cloud of colour.

This was good fun and great to do a transfer as a basis for my image. I always forget about these kind of techniques...

Hope you're all having a great weekend and I'll be popping round to visit everyone soon.
Hug,
Georgie xx

  22. Gorgeous! I can see the pain in her eyes and the way she is laying her head what a wonderful back story about this piece. You are one very talented lady and so inspiring to others! I see something new every time I look at this piece. The black against the vibrant colors just adds to the mystery of this lady. Huge Hugz muffin! ~Niki
