Great things take time

Goodness!! Didn't realise it had been so long since I did a post... I do apologise. I will try to do better in future. Promise... ;)

I am finding with a lot of commitments I have been running out of time for my son, so I tried to turn things around and made him my priority.

Anyway, on to why I am posting today... I up on 49 and Market's blog with my latest layout.

I won't go into too much detail, otherwise I'd be here all day, but it felt great to get back to doing layouts like this. I will leave you with all the close ups, may have gone overboard with those hehe :)

The Traveller - Idea-ology Jewellery

Hi Folks

***Sorry this post hasn't gone out in time with the guest post on AVG - I had left it in draft - doh!! slap wrist :) But better late than never, right?!

For this guest post I knew I wanted to do something different. I love trying new things and I was desperate to dig into my stash of Tim Holtz Idea-ologly pieces. I also love old style relics, the kind of thing you may see in ancient, magical, fantasy, fiction films! So after some serious playing around with bits and pieces, The Traveller was born...

Other than the chain and wire, all parts are Tim Holtz Idea-ology pieces.

I used the wire to be partly integral to the joining up of the design. It actually goes through the centre and holds the top sections together and swivel clasp is completely dependant on it.

To get the aged rust and patina effects, I used TenSecond Studio VerDay set.

The layering consists of the following in order:

Layer 1: Compass piece
Layer 2: Wings with a small Mini Gear nestled right next to it (you can see better in the photo below)
Layer 3: Swivel Clasp for bail with mini cog on the wings at the bottom. This creates a level base for the word band.
Layer 4: Word Band
Layer 5: Slightly larger Mini Gear
Layer 6: Spinner
Layer 7: Brad

Hopefully in this picture you can see the layers better. I also used Glossy Accents to also help secure this together. So it is not whole reliant on the wire.

The Swivel Clasp bail, I removed the chain part and kept the main ring to join to the chain.

And here it is, again lol. Hope you enjoyed, any questions please ask. And a big thank you to A Vintage Journey for asking to guest for them, especially in their anniversary month!

Believe in Magic

Happy Sunday!!

New challenge up on the blog at Mixed Media World. As always we have fabulous prizes over there and great challenges! You really need to check out this months moodboard, it is stunning! I have chosen to follow the colours.

I have altered one on those blank little boxes that you can buy at The Range, the perfect base for a bit of mixed media magic. I have chosen colours and textures from this gorgeous moodboard:

Isn't this beautiful? Perfect frosty mornings, layers of greys and blues... stunning isn't it!

I built up from a layer of black gesso, adding texture and some Scrapiniec pieces and with art stones.

I used Tulle, that stuff I can't remember the name of that florists use... :) any answers please let me know in the comments, I really can't think want the name is for it - the spike-hairy looking stuff lol

The paints and colours I used were Lindy's Magical Shaker Barvarian Blue, Art Alchemy Deep Waters, Treasure Gold Pewter and Sapphire.

Then topped a luscious layer or Glass Glitter in Midnight Blue, and Micro Beads in Black (I always think poppy seeds when I see them). And my favourite sentiments are from 7 Dots Studio, I just love how unique and different they are, but also what great value!

So this is it for me for today, please stop by the blog and check out my gorgeous teamies work, they are always breathtaking.

Altered Denim Journal Cover

Hello out there!!

Hope everyone is well, it's Friday and all is well in the land of Georgie.

Today I'm sharing a cover of my denim art journal over at Mixed Media Place

I must admit I do not feel too pleased about the final look of this piece but I did enjoy the process of creating and that is what this is all about right? We don't always get it spot on every time and rather than leaving it in the dark I thought I'd still share it.

Anyway, I'll leave you with some close ups :) :

'Hidden' - Journal Board

New challenge of at Mixed Media World, as usual we have a break in January but we are back, complete with new teams too. Please pop on over to say hi if you get the chance :)

For the anything goes challenge, I decided to do an art journal page on canvas board. I chose to go for a more intuitive style than anything with purpose and structure. It is actually quite freeing and seriouslyrecommend it, especially if you have never tried it before. It really is like letting your emotions out in paint!!

I used lots of Finnabar's Art Alchemy Paints and Gesso, also, of course, one of her beautiful Vintage Mechanical Hearts!

As always thanks so much for stopping by!

'Believe' Layout + Video

My turn over at 49 and Market today :)

And here is the layout I have to share with you:

Completely inspired by two gorgeous brands that go together like ice cream and cookie dough. I looked to the challenges this month from Lindy's (for the colour scheme) and Dusty Attic (for the layout). I chose Vintage Artistry - The Report background paper.

Gorgeous flowers (Roses White) from 49, allowing great absorption of colour whilst still holding it's structural integrity. I tried as best as I could to capture the shimmer of those sprays on the flowers here - hope you can see it :)

Showing a close up of the stencil (LOVE this design) pattern using Light Paste with Magicals and glitter glass.

Some lovely chippies - each embossed with a different powder from Lindy's and the flower sprayed with two of their colours.

Finally getting a chance to use my own stamp design (With All Your Heart) in a layout :) eek - exciting! Love how it looks peek through from behind the stencil and title.

For this layout I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

Dusty Attic (Layout) - January Challenge

From Dusty I used the following:

Lindy's Stamp Gang - January Challenge

From Lindy's I used:

Thank you so much for stopping by today, and as a little extra I have a video to share of my creative process... hope you like!
