Hello!
We have a new challenge over at Frilly and Funkie, and is hosted this week by our lovely, talented Cec! Here is what she has chosen for us:
***AN ALTERED STATE***
"It is time to transform something you have sitting around or can pick up for a song and make it one of your works of art. It could be a frame, a bottle, an old cigar box, a discarded CD - the list is endless. Just make sure your final transformation is vintage or shabby chic."
I have had this little oval box sitting around for ages not knowing what to do with it, but with Christmas around the corner I thought I make a little box for a little gift! Not sure what will go in it yet but even if it is one of those delicious smelling little soaps, it will housed a little nicer rather than just wrapping paper.
Aren't those little pinecones cute?! My goodness I couldn't stop staring at them, so glad I have two packs lol. Linda now has these at her hope and such a great price too. I added some Tarnished Brass Distress Stain to them, of that slight gold speckle.
The flower is also a new addition at Linda's shop, these are burlap birds nest flowers by Petaloo. This was sprayed with Tattered Rose and Victorian Velvet Distress Stain, and it took the colour really well.
The box was covered with gesso and painted with Distress Paints. Once I had covered the base layers I embossed with UTEE using Tim Holtz stamps and then edged with Black Soot Distress Paint hitting the slightly raised areas of some of the embossing.
The centre of the flower has three little pearls already but what is Christmas without a little sparkle... enter Distress Stickles! Just a touch, so when sitting under a tree waiting to be opened there will be a some glitter peeping through.
This photo just shows better the stamp embossing on the side.
Hope you enjoyed today's post and do stop by at and check out my other teamies fabulous makes. I must say they have absolutely outdone themselves, they are just incredibly talented!
Hugs
