Today over at Mixed Media World, it's time for another challenge! This month our theme is Vintage!!
Now, I have struggled with vintage for awhile (I think I must go through phases) feeling my self edging towards the brights, or soft and feminine themes, or the other extreme of ancient pieces. However, I found great inspiration from the Dusty Attic moodboard this month (see pic at bottom of post).
I've had this box I've been hoarding for ages and thought it would be the perfect backdrop for a vintage regal piece. Enter Dusty Attic chippies!!
From Dusty Attic, I used:
The boxes on the moodboard gave me the idea to do this box, the soft whites of the pictures inspired me to hold back lol, and not add too much colour, keeping to the neutrals and simpler textures. Their title of 'life is a journey' made me think of a royal travelling box, hence the regal feel too.
I laid down some Art Basics Gesso, and then a good heavy coat of Art Basics White Crackle and left to dry over night. The chains and compass I embossed with Lindy's EP, mixing up a couple of bronze and red colours.
Needed an excuse to use my new Finnabar Mini Art Stones - look at that extra touch of texture.
Love this compass from DA!
Some vintage splotching and edging in around the wrought iron pieces and chain and box edge, and in random places over the crackle.
Hope you find time to enter our wonderful challenge this month and feel inspired to give something a go, we'd love to see you there.
Hugs
Georgie
