Liber de Somniis - handmade journal

New challenge up over at Mixed Media Place! As always there is the chance to win a voucher for the store.

For my inspiration piece I chose to create another 'Magickal Olde Worlde Journal' as I'm just loving these so much right now... This time I actually hand stitched it!!

Liber de Somniis

All my journals get named, usually in Latin, as I love the mystery, magic and romance of the language. This book translates to 'Book of Dreams'. The legend has it that dreams (or nightmares) can be made reality with this magical dream journal, however only those of a certain bloodline could harness it's wondrous power..

New 'Mechanicals' from Finnabair, I painted the centre of the heart in Royal Red Art Alchemy and then distressed with Art Basics Black Gesso.

The brads and bottom layer of chippie pieces were covered in the much loved Rust Paste that Finnabair released this year. I really recommend this stuff for quick and easy rusting techniques, especially if you don't already have any preferred methods, or even if you do this makes it so easy!

The background paper is from IndigoBlu, the ancient world look to these makes you want to just dive right into the magical world to promises.

The Regal Chippie from Dusty Attic was covered with Mega Flakes from Indigo Blu - those flakes are just gorgeous and perfect for this sort of look.

Close up on the hand stitching. Quite please I had managed to finally conquer this and already starting my next book using this method.

I originally found my inspiration for creating these kind of books from Altered Alchemy. Seeing Luthien's work made me believe that you can make masterpieces like this using mixed media techniques.

The Creative Gym challenge theme this month is:

Hope you can come and join in with us and have found some inspiration from here. Please also be sure to check out my other talented teamies fabulous makes - they are awesome!!
