'The Place'

Hi There!

I know I do short and sweet posts with not a lot of writing but warning alert, a little moany-groan coming up... skip ahead to the photos if you like, promise I won't mind lol xx

I've not had much of an online presence recently and I apologise for that. I'm finding that the mojo is still seriously lacking. At first I thought it was because it took up so much time, it was like having  full time job without the pay (and it shouldn't feel like that), then I was missing out out rushing my son's bedtime so I could get downstairs to carry on. In the end enough was enough, that really was my last straw. I only get one son, one child. I'm making this time with him count. So I cut back on commitments, which helped but then summer came and I just wanted to be outside with the family... How do others do it? I see them with the glorious family snapshots, amazing artwork and on about six DTs.. ahh pipe dream.

Anyway, slowly building up my arty buzz again. I thought I'd start with entering a challenge, and where better than Prima. I adore all of their products and a good chance to use up my stash which seems to grow.

So I'm throwing my hat in for the CAT challenge:

I will keep this part short and sweet :) and just give you the close ups. They're always my favourite part! As always texture and mixed media play a wonderfully happy role when I create.

Here is the sketch for Prima's CAT for October:

As always thank you stopping by and I'm planning on making some time over the next week to catch up on all my wonderful artsy friends blogs - I've missed you all!

Hugs
Georgie

  1. A beautiful "comeback" card, Georgie, and I am fully with you on your thoughts about being on too many DTs and having it feel like a job without getting paid once it starts taking up too much time.

I have learned about myself during my last years of creative blogging that summer always is the time where I just don't want to spend a lot of time at my crafting desk but go outside and enjoy myself in a more active way. And after this summer break it always takes quite some time for me to get back into flow.

And I am sure we are not the only ones who feel like that!
I think the best thing to do is keep DT commitments at a level where you feel you still have enough spare time and room to develop own creative ideas and concepts - as this is what keeps you creatively going. Pressure always does the contrary.

    Hugs,
    Claudia

  2. Beautiful Georgie as Claudia said great comeback piece.
Totally sympathise with what you say, I've dropped all DT's but one as it's meant to be a hobby not another reason to raise your stress levels.

  4. Beautiful card Georgie. I also ask myself the same question how some people manage and then I think do they have a PA working for them lol. I also had to step down from a DT sadly as was just struggling so much to keep up. Your family has to come first especially when they grow up so quickly.

  5. Sweetie, you know that you're definitely not the only one, with these feelings... And your son is number one. Always and forever. You will find your way how to make it work. It's a process and next summer just go. Be outside. Let the craft room be. And mojo will come back when it comes. No pressure sweetie. Just breathe and be. Love your work hun, like always. I'll bet your card will definitely be featured at the Prima blog... Xxx

  6. Stunning creation and it looks as if your mojo is well and truly back!!
I think many of us feel the same, the comments above support that too. DTs are very much a mixed blessing, free product (at least in some cases) but then hours of unpaid work, and for me also the question, what on earth to do with all those things one creates....specially the 3D projects.... Ultimately creativity and that inner fulfillment that art can bring, is what it should be about I think, and family should always come first. I stepped down from most of my teams last year, and am now able to create mostly just for the fun of it and when I want to. Hang in there and sending big hugs, - your work is amazing!!

  7. This really is a magical project Gee, a great come-back piece for sure!

I think others have already said it all, I have no children at home, live in a small house, hubby helps lots, but I still don't have time to do things I want, because DT work is such a commitment - you have made me realise I need to think again about what I am doing - it should be fun, not a chore! Hope you have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Anne xx

  9. A stunning project, as always Georgie. It looks as though we are all struggling with the same mixture of feelings in terms of wanting to create but seriously needing to be with family. Ive just about kept things going these last few months too with "life" getting in the way. But it is lovely to see you back creating and enjoying it too. Have a lovely weekend. Jennie x

  10. Oh Georgie! I know how precious time is with your little one and time passes so quickly! I took on too much in the first half of this year along with having surgery - I became so stressed that hubby got a bit worried about me.I'm fine now but know now that I won't be taking too much on again -my one DT at TIOT is just right for now! Don't worry about what others do -all you need is what's right for you! Big hugs, Chrisx
