Layout for Prima Challenge

Howdy!! :)

Just a quick post as I really wanted to enter in the Prima Product Picks Challenge for this month.

This is a layout featuring a pic I took on one of my walks from awhile a go. I thought the green foliage with the hint of a pink unripened blackberry fitted the colours beautifully.

As I was doing layout, I flipped the design for their Build A Page too! :)

I've not done a layout for ages, so feel a little out of practice :) but it was just so much fun to raid my Prima stash!! Every so often I seem to have a Prima-Buying-Binge. I have noticed of late that I have issues... I have issues in that I love to buy craft supplies, especially the pretty papers, flowers and embellishments, but can't bear to tarnish their newness, with my clumsy art hands lol. I am working to get past this. It seems they must have a settling in period, where I can just adore them for what they are.

Haha, Am I weird?!! Actually, don't answer that... ;)

The gorgeous greens are from Finn's new line of Art Alchemy paints, in Emerald, Olive, Green-Gold and Lime Peel. Also some Prima's green jute... and I cracked open Debutante chipboard set to get at these pretty sequins - they matched perfectly to the board!!

Flowers are from Royal Menagerie, and there are Wood Icons flowers and leaves.

Some pretty Prima Stamping using the Royal Menagerie set.

So without further ado, I'd like to enter this in this month's Prima Product Picks and Build A Page (March), here is the moodboard, which was just a delight to take inspiration from.

Mixed Media Place Challenge

Hiya!!

Sorry, I'm a day late with this post!! My son came down really poorly on Friday evening, turns out it was Scarlet Fever. Anyway he's on the mend now, thankfully! So apologies for being a day behind.

So... new challenge over at Mixed Media Place, and here is my inspiration for you!

The challenge is this gorgeous mood board:

Aren't these colours so soft and dreamy? I wanted to use the colours and the softness as my inspiration, so created a mini canvas.

Mixed media is probably my biggest love in art and being part of this design team is a dream come true, so I gave this canvas the aptly named 'Happy Place'.

Have you seen Scrapiniec pieces, they are gorgeous and now in stock at Mixed Media Place!

Yum, Texture Stones anyone? :)

And these Art Pebbles are cute, I love how they magnify what is under them, giving you an even bigger close up to all the texture.

This on is just a close up on the Glass Glitter and stencil with some pretty Art Sugar on top of some Light Paste

Do hope you get a chance to join us for this incredible mood board, we'd really love to see you there!

Instant Artist + IndigoBlu Blog Hop

Hi Folks!

Here today with my project for IndigoBlu. I've used one of their stamps called Lost In Benidorm to create an 'instant-artist' style watercolour painting.

I used Brushos to create a background in 'manly' colours :) whilst thinking about placement of where my stamp would go in relation to the splatter effect coming off the guy.

Once stamped, I then went on to create depth to the image, all the time trying to nowt hold on to this idea of perfection and just let the paint be free.

Then I went over with black pen to to give visible strength to the outline and then used a white pen to add highlights.

All it needs now is a frame, and voila!! Instant artist! No need to spend ages drawing up an image first.

***BLOG HOP***

Want to win some stamps? There is a blog hop going with IndigoBlu currently for a chance to win the Colour Me Floral Stamps!! For more details on this hop, please see this page here, where it all begins...

Thank you so much for stopping by, I always read and appreciate your kind words. They mean so much to me!

Mixed Media World - Vintage

Hi Peeps!

Today over at Mixed Media World, it's time for another challenge! This month our theme is Vintage!!

Now, I have struggled with vintage for awhile (I think I must go through phases) feeling my self edging towards the brights, or soft and feminine themes, or the other extreme of ancient pieces. However, I found great inspiration from the Dusty Attic moodboard this month (see pic at bottom of post).

I've had this box I've been hoarding for ages and thought it would be the perfect backdrop for a vintage regal piece. Enter Dusty Attic chippies!!

From Dusty Attic, I used:

The boxes on the moodboard gave me the idea to do this box, the soft whites of the pictures inspired me to hold back lol, and not add too much colour, keeping to the neutrals and simpler textures. Their title of 'life is a journey' made me think of a royal travelling box, hence the regal feel too.

I laid down some Art Basics Gesso, and then a good heavy coat of Art Basics White Crackle and left to dry over night. The chains and compass I embossed with Lindy's EP, mixing up a couple of bronze and red colours.

Needed an excuse to use my new Finnabar Mini Art Stones - look at that extra touch of texture.

Love this compass from DA!

Some vintage splotching and edging in around the wrought iron pieces and chain and box edge, and in random places over the crackle.

Hope you find time to enter our wonderful challenge this month and feel inspired to give something a go, we'd love to see you there.

I'd love to enter this for the Dusty Attic Challenge for March, as this was my sole inspiration for this piece :)

'Cor Solis' Handmade Journal + Video

Hello Sweeties!!

Today is my first post over at Mixed Media Place!! Eeek!!! Very exciting but also a tad nervous, haha!!

So very honoured to be part of this amazing team. I love mixed media work in any form, it is my biggest passion, so this is like being called home - lol. Their collection of products is extensive and just mind blowing!!

If you have recently liked my series of handmade journals, there is a video (over at Mixed Media Place) to go with this post, so you can see I how I have created the front of the book.

'Cor Solis' translates to 'Heart of the Sun'.

Here is my sneak peek:

The video is my first ever, ( after much experimenting this last year in trying to get it to work :)  ), it was exciting to make and I hope to get better, but I will keep doing more now that I've started.

Have a lovely Monday
