This time at Frilly and Funkie the incredibly talented Pamellia is hosting our challenge Snap, Crackle, Crackle.
'Let's see some cracks on your creations! You can use crackle paint, crackle paste, crackle glaze, crackle accents, an old cracked image, a piece of cracked UTEE, a cracked pattern from a stencil or stamp, you can even doodle on your crackle design! anything goes, as long as it cracks me up!!'
So let's get cracking... (you know I had to do that, right?) ;)
The butterfly was given a few coats of gesso, with some Tumbled Glass Distress Paint, and some jewels from my stash down the body for consistency with the background.
I used some glass gems tom my stash to magnify some of the cracks, and good ol' reliable Glossy Accents. This stuff has never failed me :)
Cheesecloth in the background to create texture, the circular die cut is from Spellbinders and the some clipping of Tim Holtz's Mixed Media Die. I love adding interest and layers to my pieces!
Just a peek of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape underneath.
I just ADORE Prima resins and their frames are just the perfect choice to present the centrepiece of the card. I added a couple of light extra layers of gesso. Isn't it just beautiful?
And who doesn't love clocks?!! I think we all have a soft spot for them. They are just perfect in grunge or shabby chic or splattered with a million colours.
I gesso'd over the crackle paint (Picket Fence Crackle), then used light layers of Distress Paint in Bundled Sage, Antique Linen, Tumbled Glass and a touch of Salty Ocean.
May Arts Lace for extra texture :)
Thank you so much for joining me here today and remember all you have to do to enter this challenge is use some crackle! Linda from The Funkie Junkie Boutique offers up the chance to win $25 from her amazing store, so be sure to play along.
Hugs my lovelies and see you soon,
Georgie xx
LOVE the way the pure white colour really allows you to see so much of that crackle detail through the lace, embellishments and gauze. Another gem Georgie! Jenny x
ReplyDeleteWoow, Georgie I am so impressed! This is just STUNNING! Oh I love your clocks, the beautiful frame, fantastic texture with brilliant crackle effect! A real shabby piece of art, my friend!

ReplyDeleteGeorgie! What beauty are you doing! I love it!
ReplyDeleteGeorgie, you crack me up with your pun about let's get crackin! And your crackling is absolutely fantabulous! PLEASE answer this question for me as soon as you are able...how do you get such wonderful thick and big cracks using the Distress Crackle Paint???? Mine always makes tiny cracks, no matter how thick I make the stuff, and I'm so frustrated with it! I threw an entire jar away thinking it was no good, but turns out a brand new jar does the same.
ReplyDeleteOk, now onto this beauty! This has got to be my favorite Georgie piece, and if it ever goes up for auction, please include me in the bidding! Aside from that gorgeous crackling, the other textures are just so yummy and the colors are breath taking! Great composition, and love the details of the drops! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it all! Big hugs!
PS Love how you've repeated the circles, even right down to the post mark of the Tissue Tape--how clever!
ReplyDeleteHOLY GORGEOUS!! This is just hypnotizing Georgie, I have been zooming in on your photos for quite some time!! (Your photographs are beautiful, by the way...amazing depth of field and very attractive angles!) I just love the muted colours and the touches of lace, very shabby...yet the crackle and butterfly are kind of grungy, AMAZING!!
ReplyDeleteTell me please, how did you get the glitter into those little droplets? Is the glitter inside the glue or did you add it afterwards?? hugs :)
Stunning!!! Classy!!! Elegant!!! I could go on and on...This is a masterpiece! I have been looking at the pics of your card for quite some time, and just can't get enough of the beauty of this project! BRAVO!!!
