Anything But Cute - Make It Masculine - Challenge #2

Hallo! :)

Ready for challenge #2 at Anything But Cute? We sure are and wow what a month, thank you everyone for playing along - so many beautiful entries!!

Sorry this is going to be such a quickest post. If you have any questions regarding products do ask and I will reply here. We're about a week away from having the builders in to knock down our kitchen and build a new one so it's Crazy-City here :)

This month the theme is:

MAKE IT MASCULINE
Make a mixed media card or other project for a fellow in your life.  It could be for Father's Day, a birthday, an anniversary or just because you want him to know how special he is.

I've done a mini 3D canvas theism month.

I used DIY 'left overs', mainly from IKEA and I had sooo much fun with this piece! My little man was helping pass me bits and bobs from my box of DIY 'junk' :) 'Mummy use this, what about this Mummy?' I swear this thing was about to turn into a Lego tower.

Scrummy Tim Holtz embellishments and I chose the Muse Token 'Courageous' as that is how my son sees his father, he looks up to him so much, to him he is the bravest person in the world!

I used micro beads to add extra interest, and loads of gorgeous DecoArt Media paints. They are so pigmented and you don't need a lot of colour with these at all.

Going 'off-piste'! :) Love going off the page to create extra interest.

I used Treasure Gold White Fire to create to highlight and accent. Hope you like and hope you feel inspired to try something like this. I feel a slight addiction to these 4x4" canvases :)

Hope you get the chance to play at Anything But Cute.

*** Sorry for the mix match of photos - Google Photos is playing havoc with my upload, but big thanks to Pamellia of My Little Craft Things (you are such a gem :) ) for helping get the photos to match as close as possible to real life, they are the deeper toned ones. Rich deep brown, reddy colour!

Have a lovely lovely day, and YAAAAAYYYYYYY! It's Friday - Whoop whoop!!
Hugs
Georgie xx

  3. This is so freakintastic!!! Love all the elements you used, they are so beautifully arranged and I love how you went over the edge...it does give it a nice touch!!! I tried painting mine, two tone, did not turn out well...so I just painted everything grey....I have no skill when it comes to mixed media painting...I just sit back and enjoy your work :)

  4. Wow, Georgie, you have knocked my socks completely off with this stunning (trite word-so sorry!) masculine, steampunk, mixed media canvas! Love all your bits and pieces, and the way you have carried them off the edge--so edgy! the shear metal-ness of this just makes me shout for joy! Just think, when the kitchen comes down, you'll have a perfect excuse for not cooking! Best of luck with the rest of your remodel and take deep breaths! You are doing a fabulous job crafting through all the mess! My thoughts are with you! Big hugs and lots of love!

  9. Love this deep canvas with all the wonderful metal bits and pieces - so chic and industrial. I can see the Allan keys as leftovers from IKEA because they give you some with everything you buy but if I have screws leftover, I need to revisit the assembly before the piece falls down - LOL.
    Hugs!

  12. So fun that your little man helped make something for your big man. Hehe! So many fantabulous tid bits used and what a genius way to recycle all those little parts. Your use of those microbeads is genius and creates such depth. I see dark brown and gold here. Awesome sauce! Hugz to you muffin! ~Niki

  18. This is spectacular in so many facets! The colors, the texture, the incredibly unique design... everything is intriguing! Add to it the fact that your little boy was part of the process adds the indescribable element of HEART that I personally find the most important of all. I have told my sweet friend Pamellia that I often feel like there's a mixed media part of me that is aching to burst out, experiment, and see what happens... projects from both of you reawaken it with every post. Thank you for inspiring me and in many ways emboldening me! Although I do not know when I will have time to dabble into the beauty of mixed media, I am so grateful I can enjoy it in your creations. This is amazing and will be treasured. :o)

    Hugs and blessings,
    Karen

  19. Hehhehehe - LOVE that your little man was helping make it look like a lego tower - hehehehe - so precious. But hello??? It DOES NOT look like a lego tower - eheheheh... it looks INCREDIBLE. You gals on this DT are soooo FABULOUS. Seriously Georgie - this is just FAB. Love the background. And then... it seems like you put all the little pieces you were handed in just the right place. The COURAGEOUS is my FAV part but those micro beads added so much extra flair too. GREAT WORK! j.
