Man... I feel like I'm on a crafting mission right now. Two weeks off from work has certainly agreed with me. Not looking forward to going back tomorrow and I will miss my little boy terribly. We've had such fun together. However, I am very fortunate that I work part-time... I just have to get through the next three days... how hard can it be?? :)
Over at Cheery Lynn Design Inspiration Blog they're having a White on White Challenge, this is something I have never tried before so I thought I'd give it a go. All you have to do to enter is incorporate one of their dies into your project - done and done!!
I love their dies and I'm fortunate enough to have a few to choose from. So here is my make:
Flourishes, also, are one of those 'must-have' things to have in your stash of dies, and plenty of companies do them. But... if you had to pick one, this should be it! It's perfect for any type of project you're working on. Beautifully elegant, can be used in a piece in it's own right or blended into the background to add interest to a project, under a spray of flowers, mixed media texture etc.
Though this project is white on white, I did still want to create texture, depth and layers. So I used Rock Candy Stickles and Prima Glitter Glass in Pearl all over the flowers for the wintery frost feel. Then just the Stickles here and there over the flourish. I raised the doily to add shadow and depth, left the flourishes free of the page instead of stuck down.
The Pearls did look very white to me when making this but my guess is they're actually ivory, which the camera has picked up, or they're reflecting a colour from somewhere when the photo was being taken, but still they look incredibly pretty (and white on the card).
I've left the card blank from sentiment as I felt it didn't really need it. That way it has a multiple of uses when the time comes for it to go to a new home.
Another point to mention, which had never occurred to me until doing a card like this, but is how cost effective it is to make. Materials wise it has cost two sheets of white A4 paper (4p), a blank white card (20p) a few trimmings (30p approx) and tapes/glues (20p). You could get away without the trimmings but even with it all in, it's still a bargain!! Highly recommend this style if you need a card on a budget ;)
Right my lovelies, I'm off to bed. Back to early nights again - yawn :) But I will see you tomorrow for a very exciting post and the launch of the first challenge at Craft Gals Challenge Corner.
TTFN,
Georgie xxx
