ScrapbookerPhD Challenge: Birthday Card for Boy/Man

A happy hello to my newest followers, so lovely to have you come along on my crafting journey :)

The challenge this week at ScrapbookerPhD is for the guys! A birthday card for a boy/man, and you just need to include a die cut to qualify for the prize!!

How easy is that?! So please link up your project here on ScrapbookerPhD for a chance to be in with winning this month's prize.

My inspiration for this theme is a starry, arty style card:

This will be my husband's birthday card, he doesn't know it yet, even though he has already seen me make it - oops! Maybe I'll get another done by then :)

The die cuts used are:
Sizzix Primitive Stars (New)
Sizzix Tim Holtz Elegant Flourishes
Sizzix Tim Holtz Crescent Moon and Stars Die (Stars Used)

I used the Tim Holtz bubble stencil in the background with homemade texture paste. Then added the stars and flourish giving everything a coat of gesso.

The next part was so fun , I used Tim Holtz Distress Paints in Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and a little Black Soot. Black Soot was also used to edge and define the layers of stars and the flourishes.

I had some pre-made painted paper so used that to cut the little stars and then drew around them. I finished up with some glass texture beads, Treasure Gold in Pewter and then the Tim Holtz Mirrored Stars.

The sponsor of this weeks challenge is:

Kathy of Kathy's Cozies

Kathy is offering two prizes... a handmade cozy for any die cut machine and a $15 gift certificate for a cozy. You can find her work on her blog, FB and Etsy.

She makes the most amazing things from fabric, at the moment I'm in love with her Tim Holtz fabric totes... so stylish! Go check out her page, you won't be disappointed :)

(And remember to check out this page for information on my candy... :) )

  3. Oh Georgie, this really is fabulous! My hubby often sees me making his card although I do sometimes have a piece of paper around to drop over part of it if he comes too close - he never remembers - but then there's often a ton of other stuff around too!!!(You get the picture!!) Hugs, Chrisx

    1. Hi Pamillia, thank you for your lovely sweet comment. They're not quite micro beads - I think micro beads are slightly smaller - but the glass beads texture gel by Galleria. I love them, but the annoying thing is you have to let them dry naturally otherwise the gel stays white if blasted with heat, but I love them for texture so it's worth it!! xx
